So today we had to get up at 5 a.m. to catch our charter flight to Elba, where of course you know is where Napoleon was exiled. After saying good-bye to lovely Corsica, a only took 45 minute flight and we were there. It was amazing how much hotter and more tropical it felt right away. We were in two groups of 17 each, and we first went to Napoleon’s “summer” home, up in the mountains a little bit. A museum has been added to the original house, but it was interesting to see where he spent time. Then we went to his other house in the city of Portoferraio. It was part of an old fortress . We then had yet another gathering with local politicians, including an unbelievable meal served in the inner chamber of the fortress. Craig and I then said good-bye to the group and took a taxi to our hotel, which is up in the hills a bit. It is sort of a spa, and has a pool so as it is hot we are heading there to relax and cool off. Now we are done with the Congress part of our experience, and I have to say it has been a phenomenal time, we meet so many fascinating people and made new friends. I have learned a lot and feel very inspired to finish my project.
